Enamel Lapel Pin, Enamel lapel pins

Enamel Lapel Pins:
Lapel pins are used for several different purposes, some are used for fashion where as others are used as a symbol of support or a donation to charity. Enamel Lapel Pins can come in thousands of different shapes and sizes including counrty flags, merchandise logo's, company logo's, animals, insects and even custom designs.

The enamel lapel pin is made by moulding the actual pin itself before the enamel is set into it, the pin is on the reverse side of the pin design and it attached to clothing of material with a pin backing. The enamel design is then apparently coloured and set into the enamel lapel pin front creating the "face" of the pin.

Some manufacturers accept custom designs for companies or charities in which they produce a specific design of enamel lapel pin for distribution of that company or charity.

Hard and Soft Enamel:
Hard enamel pins, often called cloisonné pins, are said to be made of the finest quality. They are apparently stamped with a design, filled with powdered glass and enamels, then kiln fired to fuse glass to pin. The surface of the enamel is then polished to create what people claim is a beautiful product.

Soft enamel lapel pins claim to mimic hard enamel at a fraction of the cost. They are stamped with a design, filled with enamels, and kiln fired to fuse enamels to pin. Then the surface is covered with a clear epoxy dome. The end result is said to be very close in appearance to hard enamel lapel pins.
